I have loved mushrooms since childhood, and I have also been a programmer for a long time. Combining these two hobbies, I wrote this website. Previously, I had two other mushroom identification sites, which I sold. Only one of them remains accessible today. My goal with the current site is to create an easy-to-use search and identification platform that works great both in the field and at home. I hope it brings joy to others.

Start practice exam →Suggested study order
- Start with fungal structure, basic morphological traits, and taxonomic groups.
- Learn lifestyles, habitats, fruiting seasons, and ecological roles.
- Work through the 303 species: Hungarian and Latin names, key traits, habitat, and confusing lookalikes.
- Separately revise poisonous, deadly poisonous, easily confused, and protected species together with their conservation values.
- Study poisoning types, symptoms, toxin effects, and the necessary first-aid actions.
- Review the principles of collection, cultivation, culinary use, and preservation.
- Learn the Hungarian food-safety rules for classification, market sale, and inspection.
- Finally practise with fresh specimens and in the field, then assess your knowledge with a mixed practice exam; return to uncertain topics.
